About 80 engineer and technical staff attended the 9th Symposium
for Engineer and Technical Staff on January 15 and 16 at
KEK. The aim of the symposium was to promote a network of
engineer and technical staff working for national universities, national
colleges of technology and inter-university research institutes in
Japan.
One of the major subjects at the symposium was to develop technical support
system along with research projects for the 6 years medium plan required by
the government.
"It is very important for engineer and technical staff to train themselves
at highly challenging and skillful environments,
especially at the earlier stage of their careers,"
Shuichi Tokumoto, Chief Engineer at KEK, said in the
opening talk. Attendants discussed the various aspect
of cultivating the skills of young engineer and technical staff, succession
of the technologies and techniques, and publications
and the applications of the technologies.
