Dr. Rajagopala Chidambaram, Principal Scientific Adovisor to the Government of India, visited KEK, on January 19.
KEK and Indian scientific institutions had regularly kept mutual
cooperations through research projects and activities of Asian Committee for
Future Accelerator (ACFA). Besides these cooperations, in last October KEK
and Department of Science and Technology (DST) of India had agreed to set up
a dedicated beam line to be used by Indian researchers in the Photon
Factory (PF) of KEK.
After having a friendly talk with Osamu Shimomura, Director of the Institute of Materials Structure Science of KEK, he visited the beam line 18B at PF and future offices for Indian researchers.
On the next day he moved to J-PARC to see research
facilities such as Materials and Life Science Experimental Facility (MLF), Hadron
Experimental Hall and Neutrino Experomental Facility with Shoji
Nagamiya, Director of J-PARC Center and several readers of divisions.
