The Tenth Program Advisory Committee meeting for Nuclear and Particle Physics Experiments at J-PARC was held

The 10th J-PARC Program Advisory Committee (PAC) meeting was held on July 16 at KEK Tokai Campus and on July 17 and 18 at KEK Tsukuba Campus. In the morning of July 16, the PAC members had an opportunity to visit the J-PARC facilities. The committee is chaired by Katsuo Tokushuku, Professor of KEK Institute of Particle and Nuclear Studies (IPNS).

Following the opening remark by Koichiro Nishikawa, Director of KEK-IPNS, the latest status of the J-PARC accelerator complex, the readiness of the experimental programs being prepared for the accelerator operation in the cominig autumn (T2K long-baseline neutrino experiment, the programs at the Hadron Hall including the search for penta-quarks, detector commissioning at the K1.8BR and KL beamlines, beam commissioning and a test of liquid Argon detector at the K1.1BR beamline), progress in the R&D works of the experiments being planned, and perspective of J-PARC were reported. Also, this time, two new proposals, two resubmitted proposals, one request for fully approval and three test-experiment proposals were presented, including a particle experiment for precice K+ decay measurement and nuclear experiments with hadrons. The committee will make comments on the reports and evaluate the proposals, and summarize the outputs as the meeting minutes in near future.
