CAPPELLATTE
  - A cappella trio

CAPPELLATTE was formed in 2001 by N. Harigaya, T. Furukawa and R. Tanaka. The three vocalists studied church music in Europe and began their activisites of performing early music as a rare trio of female singers in Japan. They later extended their repertoire by playing folk songs in various countries including Japan, in addition to the middle age church music. The distinguished character of their performance can be found in their natural and transparent vocal sound, which is produced with hightly sensitive and colorful textures and is regarded as 'Voice Art'. (At the coming KEK concert, N. Kamiya will sing in place of N. Harigaya.)

TORU SAKURADA
  - Lute

First studied the guitar in Japan, and then studied the lute with Toyohiko Satoh at The Royal Conservatoire in Holland, The Hague. Skillful at various kinds of plucked string instruments such as the lute, theorbo, vihuela, baroque guitar and romantic guitar, he always chooses the most appropriate instrument for each piece. Also, he uses gut strings rather than nylon ones for drawing the original expressive tones of historical instruments. His ambitious way makes him one of the most remarkable lutenists in the world. As well as a soloist, he is also considered a very reliable continuo player because of his flexible musicianship, which fully supports ensemble performance. A member of ‘Lusthoffers’ and ‘Musica Errante’, a general director of ‘Lute & Early Guitar Society Japan’. CD "Varietie of lute collections": WAONCD-060.
