(1) 15:30-16:30 QCD hard scattering at J-PARC,
A solid understanding of the theoretical framework and its phenomenological
inputs has been crucial for the success of perturbative QCD in the past and
continues to be vital for ongoing and future nuclear and high-energy research
programs. I will give a synopsis of the main theoretical concepts for
describing QCD hard scattering at J-PARC and illustrate the importance of
higher-order QCD corrections, including resummations of dominant terms
in the perturbative series to all orders. Expectations for cross sections
and spin asymmetries are presented for inclusive pion and photon production
and the Drell-Yan process.
(2) 17:00-18:00 Charm at J-PARC,
Heavy flavors are a versatile tool to probe different aspects of QCD.
I will briefly present the theoretical foundations for multi-scale processes
in perturbative QCD. Expectations for cross sections and spin asymmetries
are given for open charm production at J-PARC and GSI-FAIR. Next,
the theoretical framework of J/Psi production in NRQCD and the "color
evaporation model" is reviewed. Limits on the possible relevance of
"intrinsic charm" from latest global QCD analyses are presented.
