アブストラクト: The Neutrino Factory, an intense neutrino source derived from the decay of a stored muon beam, is recognised to be the ultimate tool for the study of neutrino oscillations. The results of the International Scoping Study of a future Neutrino Factory and super-beam facility (the ISS) will be presented. The ISS baseline for the Neutrino Factory accelerator complex and neutrino detectors has recently been adopted by the International Design Study for the Neutrino Factory (the IDS-NF). The goal of the IDS-NF is to deliver a Reference Design Report for the facility by 2012; the organisation of, and the plans for, the IDS-NF will be summarised, Each of the principal challenges of the Neutrino Factory accelerator complex is being addressed through a dedicated R&D programme; the status of these programmes will be reviewed. Particular emphasis will be placed on the international Muon Ionisation Cooling Experiment (MICE) which will be described in detail.
