Search for the LFV process using muons is believed to play an important role to understand the physics beyond the Standard Model. Current best sensitivity among LFV search experiments has been achieved by the MEG experiment at PSI in Switzerland. New experiments are being planned around the world to reach and go beyond the MEG result by using different processes. The COMET experiment at J-PARC is one of them, aiming at achieving a sensitivity of 10^-16 on the mu-e conversion process in muonic atoms. Recently the experiment group considers a staging approach to realize this ultimate sensitivity with partial construction of the facility. Details of this approach and physics impact will be discussed in this seminar. |
