アブストラクト: I will describe a program of analyzing high energy scattering in QCD from the viewpoint of gravity duals. I will show that at high enough energies black holes are being produced in the (unknown) dual of QCD, and that there is enough information to calculate QCD effects via Polchinski-Strassler, in particular the total QCD cross section as a function of s (center of mass energy). The formalism on the gravity side is one of collision of Aichelburg-Sexl- type gravitational shockwaves, and calculation of the formation of an aparent horizon. I will then show predictions for the QCD total cross section as a function of s and compare with experiment. I will show that the 1952 Heisenberg model for Froissart saturation appears from the gravity dual, and a natural implication is that a scalar field "fireball" is being created in QCD, dual to the black hole. I will identify this with the fireball at RHIC, and derive some properties of the RHIC fireball, and predict some more. I will show that as expected by this identification, a simple scalar field model exhibits a BIon solution with a thermal horizon of finite and calculable temperature (like a black hole), and a more complicated one has both a thermal BIon solution and a BI Skyrmion representing nucleons. Finally, I will point out the difference between this formalism and the Witten formalism for black holes in AdS space describing thermal AdS-CFT, and implications for the black hole information paradox.
