In this talk, I will review a recently developing new research field, called PT-symmetric quantum theory, which was initiated by the discovery of PT symmetry by Bender and Boettcher in the late 1990s. In particular, I will clarify some important subtleties lurking behind the present common sense in QM and QFT in the context of development in the field.
