The second Asia-France Particle Physics School (FAPPS09) was held from 5 to 18 November in Fujiyoshida city, Japan. This school was hosted by the French National Center for Scientific Research (CNRS) and particle physics Institutes in China, Japan, Korea, and Vietnam, aiming for promoting the mutual exchange of young researchers in Asia and the future in France, which has been planned to take place in cooperation with the University, the first since the year 2008 in France Rezushu (Les Houches), held in.
This school stated it theme as "Hunting for signals beyond the standard model ". 43 students from Asian and European countries, such as China, India, Japan, Korea, Thailand, Vietnam, Sweden, and France, attended the school. The first day started at the KEK Tsukuba campus, with the welcome address by Koichiro Nishikawa, the Director of the Institute of Particle and Nuclear Study, followed by general guidance of the school. After the guidance, the students went to the KEK facility tour to the Belle detector, Accelerator Test Facility (ATF), and the synchrotron radiation facility. They moved to the main venue for the school in Fujiyoshida city, Shizuoka Prefecture.
The school lectures covered wide range of the topics such as particle physics, detector technologies, statistics, and computing. They also learned about the accelerator, the important tool for particle physics. They also enjoyed the lectures regarding the latest topics on physics study. In addition to the lectures, students participated in the group study with small groups. Each group made presentation for their study on March 17.
The school venue, the Fuji Calm, located at the foot of renowned Mt. Fuji, is a quiet place detached from the bustle of the city with a beautiful mountain view.
