A five-day computing summer school for graduate students was held by the Particle Physics Computing Consortium from August 2 to 6, 2021. This summer school is supported by the International Center for Elementary Particle Physics at the University of Tokyo, and the KEK Inter-Institution Network for Accelerator Science (FY 2021).

The summer school course focuses on computing techniques in particle, nuclear, and astrophysics experiments. Participating students will learn software-related techniques such as programming languages, statistical analysis tools, multivariate analysis and machine learning, GPU programming, and detector simulations, as well as computing-related techniques such as computer and network fundamentals, computer clusters, container technology, and distributed computing environments.

This summer school has been held annually at KEK since 2017, but was cancelled in FY2020 due to covid-19. This fourth edition, in 2021, was held virtually, using Zoom for training, a hands-on environment prepared on AWS, Slack for communication, and Jupyter Notebook for sharing materials. Forty-one students from 13 universities (27 laboratories) participated, and 20 Consortium faculty members served as instructors. Among the lecturers, five faculty members from the Computing Research Center contributed.
