Mr. Takahiro Oyama of the Radiation Science Center received the Incentive Award from the Radiation Engineering Division of the Atomic Energy Society of Japan, on September 17, 2021.
The awarded paper is \u201cMeasurements of secondary-particle emissions from copper target bombarded with 24-GeV\/c protons\u201d published in Nuclear Instruments and Methods in Physics Research.
This paper is about an experiment that Mr. Oyama compiled in research on radiation safety conducted jointly by KEK, CERN, Hiroshima University, Kyushu University, Shimizu Corporation, and others.
In this experiment, the type, energy, and angular distribution of secondary particles generated when a 24 GeV\/c proton beam is incident on a copper target were measured using a threshold activation detector, and compared with simulation calculations. The usefulness of this data was highly evaluated and received this award.
