SARS Prevention in coming winter

WHO declared on July 5th, 2003 the end of local transmission of SARS (Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome). There is no area defined by WHO since July 5th, 2003 where transmission of SARS is occurring. The Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare revised Infectious Diseases Prevention Act and Infectious Diseases Control Law. New Act and Law adds SARS, small pox and dengue to the list of infectious diseases. Since cure for SARS has not been discovered at present, we have to take preventive action as much as possible.

Please contact Users Office as soon as possible if you notice following symptom(s) PROVIDED that you came (within 10 days) from the area specified by WHO in the past as the area of local transmission of SARS, or that you have contacted a person ( or the person's deposit of some kind) who was infected with SARS during the last 10 days period.

1. Fever above 38 degrees Celsius
2. Dry cough or breathing difficulties

Please practice conscious personal hygiene effort such as washing your hands frequently with soap and water and gargling frequently. Please wear a surgical mask (or alike) when you have any of the above symptoms.
