The OHO Accelerator Seminar series have been held at KEK since 1984, aiming to train young scientists and encourage researchers from private companies to understand accelerator science. This year the seminar focused on next generation's high-brilliant synchrotron light source based on energy recovery linac (ERL), held during September 2-5. Leading scientists of this type of linacs gave lectures on basics and applications for ERL with hidden potential as next-generation accelerator technology.
These lectures ranged from learning basics on accelerators such as high frequency technologies and beam dynamics to studying character of ERL as synchrotron light source, its feature as accelerator technology, its design methods and plobrems. Besides those lectures also having a tour on KEK accelerator facilities and a friendly nightly talk by Professor Yamazaki, professor emeritus in Kyoto University.
Every lecture had around 30 or more participants from universities and private companies. All of them seemed eager to listen the lectures, and some of them asked questions to the lecturers even during coffee breaks.
