The research group working on developing a simulation frame work for hadron therapy held a symposium to announce their achievements on December 10th, 2008. Prof. Sasaki at Computing Research Center was appointed as the leader of the group in the JST's CREST program. This fiscal year marks the final year of the five-year program.
During the period, the group succeeded to develop a software suite for hadron therapy simulation, first of its kind in the world, and achieved the highest precision among existing hadron simulation. Their achievements have been widely used at hadron therapy facilities around the world.
The group discussed the necessity of continuation of the research activities and the applications into medical treatments.
