On June 26, the first Ryugu sample, which has been processed for STXM (Scanning Transmission X-ray Microscope), was brought to BL-19, as the beamtime of Prof. Tomoki Nakamura (Tohoku University) starts. Prof. Nakamura, who checked the screen after sample processing while performing analysis at BL-3A, is very satisfied with the results and shows us a “Good!” pose.

To avoid exposure to the Earth's atmosphere, the installation of the sample in the STXM chamber requires complex gas manipulation and delicate work. Shohei Yamashita, Assistant Professor of the Photon Factory, carefully proceeds with the process, while many of co-researchers are watching. Professor Nakamura and Professor Yoshio Takahashi of the University of Tokyo watched with bated breath through the screen and applauded him when they confirmed his success.
Professor Takahashi smiled and said, "I'm having a lot of fun," although it is still a secret how the analysis is going.
