On July 4, Prof. Hikaru Yabuta of Hiroshima University, team leader of the "Organic Macromolecule Analysis Team" wearing a Hayabusa2 T-shirt, arrived at the PF BL-19A.
Prof. Yabuta's team plans to use STXM (Scanning Transmission X-ray Microscopy) with soft X-rays from PF to study the carbon in the sample of asteroid Ryugu. She has been working remotely with Associate Prof. Yoko Kebukawa of Yokohama National University, Prof. Yoshio Takahashi of the University of Tokyo, and Assistant Professors Yasuo Takeichi and Shohei Yamashita of IMSS to improve the experimental conditions.
This analysis was only for one day, but the full-scale analysis will begin during the autumn beamtime.
