Mutual-aid Pension Plan
(kyosai-kumiai)

You are required to join the Mutual Aid Associations(KYOSAI KUMIAI) as with Japanese staff for the duration of your employment.

The Mutual-aid Pension Plan (kyosai-Kumiai) has three programs.
A part of your salary is automatically deducted as premiums every month.

1) Health Insurance

This program provides financial assistance to insure and their family members by paying insurance benefits in the event of sickness, injury, childbirth and death.

Q) Who is eligible to enroll?
A) People working in KEK, as well as their dependents, are eligible to join.
Every Full-Time Employer should enroll in this program, regardless of their nationality, sex, and income.

Q) What is the procedure for enrollment?
A) As soon as you start working, you should confirm your enrollment with KEK. After enrollment, you will receive your Health Insurance card (Kyosai-kumiaiin-sho).

Q) When you become sick or injured
A) When you receive medical treatments because of sickness or injury, you should show your health insurance card(kyosai-kumiaiin-sho) and 70% of your medical expense will be covered by the Health Insurance. Therefore you are asked to pay only 30% of your medical expense.
Families of the person insured are asked to pay 30% of their medical expenses.

Q) How much do I pay the insurance premiums?
A) Premiums are calculated based on the insured person's monthly salary.

*Nursing Care Insurance (Kaigo Hoken)
In Japan, when a person needs nursing care due to his/her becoming bedridden and/or suffering from dementia, necessary service is offered through the Nursing Care Insurance.

All people over 40 years of age who are health insured are covered by the nursing care insurance.
The insurance payment is added to the Health Insurance payment.

2) Pension Plans

Under certain conditions, public pension plans provide a steady income for the retired, the disabled and the widowed. Every Full-Time Employer in KEK should enroll in this program,

Q) Who is eligible to enroll?

*Lump-sum Withdrawal Payment (Dattai Ichijikin)

Those who paid the Pension Plans premiums for six months or more can apply for a lump-sum withdrawal payment after leaving Japan. The application must be filed within two years after you discontinued your address in Japan.

3)welfare Service
The welfare service has various program with health- promoting benefits for the member (Kyosai kumiai in) and their family
subsidize health checkup cost
・implement various events (sports, concert,theater...etc)
・use the affiliated Hotel at a discount price

Labor Insurance
(Roudou hoken)

There are two-insurance programs in Japan specifically for the protection of workers; Workmen's Accident Compensation and Employment Insurance.

The workmen's Accident Compensation Insurance is for workers at KEK. In case of injury on the job, accidents during commutes or death, you can receive either medical compensation benefits and temporary or permanent disability compensation, or bereaved family compensation after you and your family gave filed a claim and your claim has been approved by the Labor Standards Inspection Office.
The employer has to pay the premiums for Workmen's Accident Compensation Insurance.

Employment Insurance provides benefits to workers who lose their jobs for a certain period of time until they begin to work again. Foreign residents of any nationality can enroll except foreign officials and those who are enrolled in unemployment compensation plans in other countries.

Half of the premium for employment insurance is paid by the employer and half by the worker.
