During the passage of a bunched proton or positron
beam, an electron cloud can build up in the beam pipe.
Sufficiently dense, this electron cloud induces fast single
and multi-bunch instabilities. Both the build up
and the instabilities are modelled by computer simulations.
I describe typical simulation results, comparing them
with analytical estimates and experimental observations.
Open questions and possible cures are also discussed.
