Recent status of accelerator projects at Korea |

I present status on several accelerator projects at Korea that were approved and decided recently. 3 GeV upgrade light source project at PAL was approved in Dec. 2008. The project includes reconstruction of a 5 nm low-emittance ring and energy upgrade from 2.5 GeV to 3 GeV in both linac and ring. This year is first year for the construction at Gyoung-Ju in new site for 20 mA 100 MeV proton linac project. Heavy-ion accelerator project of 400 Mev/n for cancer treatments is being reviewed and is planned to start the construction at Pusan in 2010. Rare isotope accelerator project of 200 MeV/u was decided in Jan. 2009 for nuclear experiments. The project period is 3 years for design, staring from 2009, and 4 years for construction. In addition, I will briefly introduce status on a small heavy-ion accelerator in KBSI, 1 GeV laser-wakefield acceleration in Kwang-Ju and a 10 GeV FEL proposal at PAL. |
