アブストラクト: In the coming years, Experiments at the Large Hadron Collider will give us a first impression of particle physics at the Terascale and might provide first answers to fundamental open questions. However, detailed explorations of New Physics require precision measurements at a high energy lepton collider to complement the findings at the LHC. Such a future machine places severe demands on the detectors, which have to provide unprecedented precision for the reconstruction of multi-jet final states and missing transverse energy. The most promising approach to achieve this precision are Particle Flow Algorithms (PFAs), which aim to reconstruct individual particles within hadronic jets with maximum resolution. These reconstruction technique requires extremely high granularity in the calorimeters to provide a separation of particle showers within the dense environment of a jet. First physics prototypes of such calorimeters have been tested successfully by the CALICE collaboration, demonstrating the technological feasibility of PFA calorimetry. The results also provide valuable input for the further development of hadronic shower simulation models within the GEANT4 framework. I will discuss the principles and the expected performance of Particle Flow Algorithms and present the technology of imaging calorimeters, highlighting latest results from test beam campaigns and future plans.
