The talk will give a brief summary of the present status of the search for the Quark-Gluon Plasma and discuss the role of colliders, in particular of LHC. The ALICE experiment will be introduced. Selected physics topics in ALICE will be discussed with special emphasis on what will be new beyond RHIC.
