In many countries, physicists are working with high school groups, to encourage more students to study physics. In the USA, the Quarknet program based at Fermilab has helped groups using salvaged hardware from the CASA and CYGNUS experiments to establish working networks of school-based cosmic ray detectors. I will discuss the low-cost DAQ electronics we developed and show some examples of data collected by schools participating in WALTA, an outreach program based at the University of Washington in Seattle.
