MiniBooNE began taking data at Fermilab in August 2002. The
principal motivation for the experiment is to test the oscillation results from the LSND experiment at Los Alamos. This talk will cover the physics situation, the operation of the BooNE neutrino beam and detector, and an early look at the data.
