The primary goal of the GAPS project is to perform an indirect search for neutralino, a supersymmetric particle which is the leading candidate for dark matter. The neutralino is a Majorana
particle. When neutralino annihilate with each other in the galactic
halo they make hadronic showers. These hadronic showers result in antideuteron production. GAPS is an optimal detector for antideuteron
searches because of its light weight, large field of view and unprecedented particle identification efficiency. GAPS would be employed on either ultra-long duration or satellite experiments to
search for primary antidueterons.
