The CMS (Compact Muon Solenoid) is one of four experiments planed for the LHC (Large Hadron Collider) at CERN. It is a multi-purpose experiment with sophisticated detectors and a large solenoid. The construction is now going and the working detector will be ready for collisions in 2007.
The US is a major contributer to the CMS experiment.Universities and national labs are working for major areas in the CMS, including hadron calorimeter, end-cap muon detector,trigger/data acquisition system and physics studies.
This talk explains overview of the CMS experiment and shows how we are going to ensure system feasibility of this large and complicated system focusing on US-CMS small scale test project, called 'slice test'.
