The weak-boson fusion process is expected to provide crucial information on Higgs boson couplings at the Large Hadron Collider at CERN. The statistical accuracy achievable in experiment demands comparison with next-to-leading order QCD calculations. Higgs production is the most relevant weak-boson fusion process at the LHC. Important backgrounds come from $W^+ W^-$ production in vector boson fusion. Focusing on this weak-boson pair production process it is demonstrated how Monte-Carlo methods can serve to compute observables within typical experimental cuts at NLO-QCD accuracy and thereby prepare the ground for an unambiguous interpretation of future measurements at the LHC.
