SPEAKER: Ian Bird  (CERN)

ABSTRACT: This talk will give a short overview of the development of the Worldwide LHC Computing Grid, the infrastructure used to support LHC computing. I will summarize how the infrastructure was developed, and some of the experiences and lessons learned in the preparation phase, and overview the experiences with real LHC data over the first years of LHC running. I will then discuss how the infrastructure is likely to evolve over the next few years, and how it may fit into the broad scope of distributed computing for scientific research in Europe.
