PLACE: Conference room on the 2nd floor of PF building
TITLE: IMSS seminar (12-05): Development of New Molecules for Controlling the Activity of Enzymes Related to Protein Phosphorylation Based on Natural products and Biomolecules
CONTACT: Leonard Chavas 4901
SPEAKER: Dr. Go Hirai  (RIKEN Advanced Science Institute)
ABSTRACT: Our group has focused on the development of new molecules
which enable control of the post-translational modification of proteins,
in particular, protein phosphorylation. Based on natural products or
biomolecules showing inhibitory activity or activating ability towards
enzymes related to protein phosphorylation, new molecules have been
designed in order to improve or overcome the drawbacks that conventional
molecules possessed. This presentation will disclose the new inhibitors
for dual-specificity protein phosphatases based on the natural product
RK-682 and glycolipid GM3 analogues with resistance for degradation
enzymes, both of which were recently developed in our group.
