KEK Colloquium

DATE: 2007-06-05 13:30 - 15:00
PLACE: Seninar Hall in Building No.£³
TITLE: On the Origin of String Theory
CONTACT: General Affairs Division
SPEAKER: Yoichiro Nambu  (EnricoFermi Institute,Univ.of Chicago)
LANGUAGE: Japanese
ABSTRACT: Prof. Nambu is well known for his fundamental contributions for the standard model of particle physics such as the introduction of the concept of the spontaneous symmetry breaking and the color quantum numbers. He has also played an vital role to the creation of string theory which is a promising candidate for the unified theory of interactions including gravity. He has identified strings behind the Veneziano amplitude which shows a phenomenologically attractive features for the strong interaction. As string theory also plays an important role to elucidate strongly coupled gauge theory, we plan to have a seminar on the origin of it by its originator.
