ABSTRACT: PSI is the largest national laboratory of Switzerland and operates a synchrotron Light Source (SLS), a Spallation Neutron Source (SINQ), and high intensity pion and muon beams for Muon Spin Rotation (MSR) and Particle Physics. The research is in physics of condensed matter, material science, structural biology, and fundamental questions in particle physics. It is also engaged in energy research (nuclear and non-nuclear) using complex facilities towards efficient, environmentally friendly and reliable energy supply. The nuclear infrastructure is used in medical applications such as radiopharmacy and proton therapy.
