ABSTRACT: |
It is explained how intense laser irradiation leads to an enhancement of rare processes that may occur within atoms. Non-perturbative calculation using a coherent laser beam gives a time dependent exact formula in the large power limit. We offer a semi-classical interpretation of this result. A high quality laser may thus provide a promissing tool of experimentally investigating physics far beyond the standard model, including lepton number nonconserving (LENNON) capture process of the type $e^- \rightarrow e^+$ and hopefully baryon number nonconserving process, $e^- + N \rightarrow \pi + \pi$ etc. |
