ABSTRACT: The CNGS (CERN to Gran Sasso), long baseline neutrino oscillation study, will start data taking in July 06. In this talk the sensitivity of the OPERA experiment for the Nutau appearance channel as well as for the sub-leading Nue appearance channel will be reviewed. The status of the construction of the neutrino beam at CERN and of the OPERA detector in the Gran Sasso underground laboratory will be described.
