ABSTRACT: |
In this talk, I will present the latest results for semileptonic decays from the BaBar experiment at SLAC. Semileptonic B-meson decays provide an excellent probe for the weak and strong interactions of the b quark. They allow a determination of the magnitudes of the Cabibbo-Kobayashi-Maskawa matrix elements V_ub and V_cb, and thus provide important tests of the unitarity of the CKM matrix, which are complementary to the ones from CP violation studies. After briefly reviewing inclusive determinations of V_ub and V_cb, I will focus on recent progress with exclusive semileptonic decays. The latest results allow improved measurements of the form factors of these decays and tests of theoretical form-factor predictions. BaBar has also started exploiting its large D-meson samples, which allow precision tests of lattice QCD and may give valuable input for future determinations of V_ub. |
