ABSTRACT: Lepton Flavor Violation (LFV) in the charged lepton sector has never been observed despite many ambitious experimental searches performed in the past century. The COMET experiment attempts to improve the signal detection sensitivity by a factor of 10,000 for a coherent neutrino-less conversion of a muon to an electron in muonic atoms (mu-e conversion) from the current experimental bound of Br(mu-Au-->e-Au)<7x10^-13. The experiment plans to realize this by using extremely pure proton beam provided at J-PARC and an innovative detector system. Physics motivation and details of the experiment will be reported in this presentation.
