ABSTRACT: |
COMET is the latest resurrection of the MECO experiment. MECO was a proposed search for muon conversion at a level of 10^-16 in the branching ratio of muon decay. Direct muon conversion is expected in many extensions of the Standard Model at levels which may be accessible using current technologies. COMET has Stage 1 approval to run at J-PARC and is presently developing a TDR. In order to reach the proposed level of sensitivity, the experimental requirements are demanding. These requirements and a few proposed solutions, particularly involving the tracker and trigger electronics will be discussed. |
