ABSTRACT: The POLARBEAR project, which is an international project in which
the KEK CMB group plays a key role, released the initial results in December 2013.
POLARBEAR is a telescope that is dedicated for CMB observations with an array of more than
1000 superconducting detectors, located at high altitude in Atacama, Chile.
Starting CMB observations in May 2012, POLARBEAR has achieved the unprecedented
observation sensitivity and succeeded to detect the effect of gravitational lensing
for the first time with CMB polarization data alone.
This is a milestone for future precision measurements of the sum of neutrino masses,
and is an important step toward the discovery of primordial gravitational waves and
tests of cosmic inflation, which are the main goals of the project.
In this talk, I will explain the new results from POLARBEAR, along with
the past activities and future plans of the KEK CMB group.
