We consider CP asymmetries in neutral $B$ meson decays to
$\eta' K_S$, $\phi K_S$, and $K^+K^-K_S$. How much should the CP
asymmetries in these modes differ from that in $\psi K_S$, so that it
definitively signals new physics? Such differences arises due to
contributions to the amplitudes proportional to $V_{ub}^*V_{us}$.
We use SU(3) relations to estimate or bound these contributions, and
discuss the role of certain dynamical assumptions. While our bounds are
weaker at present than what is usually assumed, they are obtained with
minimal assumptions and hence provide more rigorous tests for new
physics (and may also improve significantly with future data). |
