ABSTRACT: |
This talk is about the hypothetical possibility that charge conjugation
symmetry would be gauged. We analyze this situation using the Alice
electrodynamics model as a guiding example. These theories differ from
ordinary electrodynamics in a few subtle and at the same time drastic
effects such as Alice strings, core instabilities of monopoles and the
possibility of non-localizable charges. The effects are basically all
topological in nature.
In the talk I give an introduction to some of these exotic phenomena and
report on some numerical results and will comment on the feasibility of such
scenarios.
