| ABSTRACT: |
We investigate classical solutions of the low energy effective theory of a string theory which includes a tachyon in its mass spectrum. We find solutions in which the tachyon varies in a spatial direction. The background geometry can behave asymptotically as an AdS_3, a linear dilaton and a black hole. Implications of these solutions to closed string tachyon condensation are briefly discussed.
