ABSTRACT: We discuss several aspects of the Lambda(1405) resonance in relation to the recent developments of study of chiral dynamics. In the first part, we review the framework of the chiral coupled-channel approach in detail. In the second part, based on this appraoch, we derive an effective single-channel Kbar N interaction, emphasizing the important role of the pi Sigma channel and the structure of the Lambda(1405) in Kbar N phenomenology. We study the behavior with the number of colors (N_c) of the pole positions of the Lambda(1405), in order to clarify the quark structure of the resonance by the Nc scaling. From the viewpoint of the scattering theory, we analyze the origin of the resonances in chiral dynamics, paying attention to the physical meaning of the renormalization procedure.
