ABSTRACT: Diverse mass and mixing patterns between the quarks and leptons makes it challenging to construct a simple grand unified theory of flavor. The SO(10) SUSY GUT with type II seesaw mechanism giving neutrino masses provide a natural framework for addressing this issue. We consider the possibility of a large phase of Bs--Bs_bar mixing in supersymmetric SU(5) and SO(10) models. In the SU(5) model, the magnitude of this phase is correlated with the branching ratio of tau --> mu gamma In the case of SO(10) models, this correlation can be relaxed and a large phase can be obtained.
