ABSTRACT: I will talk about an interesting feature of quantum energy-momentum tensor from an information-theoretical viewpoint. Though the operators are local, quantum energy itself is not a local notion in an operational sense. Even if a certain amount of energy of quantum fields, which were excited by a measurement device, is left behind in front of you, it is not generally allowed to extract the energy completely only by your local operations. Instead, other experimenters who stay at distant points with zero energy of the fields (local-vacuum regions) can effectively extract a part of energy from zero-point fluctuation of the fields by using the measurement result. The extraction of energy from the fields is accompanied by generation of negative energy density of the fields around the points, just like the Hawking-radiation process. This protocol, quantum energy teleportation, sheds a new light on the black hole entropy problem.
