On June 23, members of Prof. Tomoki Nakamura's lab at the Tohoku University arrived at the Photon Factory BL-3A to begin preparations for the experiment. Here is a sample of Ryugu, which had been prepared without being exposed to the Earth's atmosphere.
There are 50 samples for X-ray diffraction experiments at BL-3A and 8 samples for the STXM after FIB processing, so many samples are ready to analyze. The black dot in the photo is a slice of stone that came from Ryugu.
"I am looking forward to seeing the X-ray diffraction data of the first sample,” said Professor Nakamura.

The muon experiment at J-PARC MLF is scheduled to start next week.
