A new logo for the Institute of Particle and Nuclear Studies has been created. The logo shows “IPNS”, the Institute’s abbreviation. The ellipse with an “i” dot represents both an electron in an atom and a particle accelerator or collider, while the “P” and “N” are woven together, as are the fields of particle and nuclear physics. The two blue colors are inspired by the KEK logo, showing that IPNS is a part of KEK.

This IPNS logo was selected in a vote on various proposals submitted by IPNS members and others involved in IPNS. Daniel Jeans (Associate professor in IPNS) who designed the new logo commented “I am very happy and of course very proud that this logo will be used in KEK. I am looking forward to see it in many places”.
