FY2025 Applied Research Laboratory Technical Exchange Meeting held

On 24 February, 2026, the FY2025 Applied Research Laboratory Technical Exchange Meeting was held.
This technical exchange meeting, now in its 11th year, has been held annually to introduce the work and technological development of engineers and to exchange information among the four centers of ARL. The total number of participants was 50, including 14 in person and 36 online.
Engineer Hirofumi Maeda from the Computing Research Center reported on a series of measures taken after identifying low-frequency noise caused by the deterioration of a ceiling fan as the source of workers’ discomfort.
Technical Associate Yuhei Ito from the Mechanical Engineering Center reported on waveguide square flange machining using an angle head, as well as on the development of a device for simultaneously dropping objects with different masses.
Senior Engineer Masahisa Iida from the Cryogenics Science Center reported on a malfunction in the insulated double-walled piping for liquid nitrogen transfer discovered at J-PARC, as well as the challenges encountered in addressing the issue.
Associate Engineer Kiyokazu Tsugane from the Radiation Science Center reported on an in-operation dose measurement and evaluation conducted using gold foil in the accelerator tunnel at the KEK Tsukuba Campus.
Since each center in ARL performs significantly different tasks, these presentations provide a valuable opportunity to understand the work of each center.
