Hiroki Akamatsu
QUP Scientist
Associate Professor
e-mail hirokia-at-post.kek.jp
I am an experimental astronomer. Before participating QUP, I was working on European X-ray astronomy project Athena at SRON Netherlands Institute for Space Research.
I joined QUP at Feb/2023 and become one of PIs of QUP at March/2025. My main research project is applications of cryogenic instrument, Transition Edge Sensor (TES), towards wide range of field including medical, industry and natural science.
I am excited to work together with other QUP colleagues and bring new insights based on new instruments which we will develop together.
Research Content
I am interested in the formation history of clusters of galaxies and large-scale-structures. I have been working on the development of cryogenic instruments for space applications in the last >15 years. I have several high-lights so far in both instrumentation and astronomical work.
