My research focuses on high-energy astrophysics, in particular relativistic phenomena occurring in accretion flows onto black holes and neutron stars, in supernova remnants, and in jets from active galactic nuclei. Alongside these astrophysical studies, I have spent many years developing satellite-borne detectors capable of precisely observing these extreme objects in the hard X-ray and gamma-ray bands.
As part of this technological development, I have concentrated on the advancement of CdTe (Cadmium Telluride) detector technologies, such as double-sided strip detectors and pixel detectors. These detectors have been further developed into focal plane instruments for hard X-ray telescopes, and into Si/CdTe Compton cameras. Currently, I am actively engaged in efforts to further enhance the performance of these detectors, while also pursuing interdisciplinary applications of radiation detection technologies across a wide range of fields, including atomic and nuclear physics, non-destructive analysis, and medical imaging—especially in cancer research.
At QUP, I serve as one of the Principal Investigators and aim to advance research in hard X-ray and gamma-ray imaging, radiation-hard devices, and AI-based image analysis and edge processing. I also serve as Executive Assistant to the Director, working to support the development of new cross-disciplinary research initiatives within the institute.
