Dr. Masaya Miyahara, a principal investigator at WPI-QUP, took the stage at Science Café’s “Resume of a Ph.D.".

This year, "Science and Technology Week" in Tsukuba was held from April 15th to April 22nd. On April 20th, KEK Tsukuba Campus hosted the Spring Campus Open, which was available to the public. As part of Science Café’s “Resume of a Ph.D.", Dr. Masaya Miyahara from International Center for Quantum-field Measurement Systems for Studies of the Universe and Particles (WPI-QUP) took the stage.

Dr. Miyahara, a principal investigator at QUP, presented “Magic Square Drawn by Integrated Circuits” and shared insights into his research and personal journey to becoming a researcher. In the first half of his presentation, he explained integrated circuits used to read signals from detectors in various domestic and international physics experiments, and circuit development for controlling quantum computers. He ended his lecture by sharing personal anecdotes about his path to becoming a researcher, his upbringing to his transition from technical college to private enterprise and, lately, to university engineering departments.

Upon hearing Dr. Miyahara's words,
“Behind every success, there are dozens of failures. Working hard is essential, but it is equally important to know when to give up and use the opportunity to learn from your mistakes. "
the attendees collectively nodded in agreement to this insight.
