I have been studying superconducting electronics for 40 years. However, I have never felt that my current knowledge or expertise is sufficient for fully understanding of observed experimental results. Discussion with staffs with other points of view are fruitful for refreshment of my thinking and reconsidering subjects from many different angles. This experience has been true independently on my age. I am looking forward to such occasion in QUP, and would like to contribute a little to encourage friendly meeting. My hobby is riding bicycles and jogging.

Research Content

For 40 years, I have primary been engaged in the following research & development:
1984 – 88:
dc superconducting quantum interference device (SQUID) magnetometer with relaxed constraint on product of critical current and loop inductance
1989 – 90:
Anisotropic magnetic responsivity of (103)-oriented yttrium barium copper oxide (YBCO) thin films & (103)-YBCO-based Josephson junctions
1991 – 2004:
Niobium nitride (NbN)-based superconductor/insulator/superconductor (SIS) mixers & Josephson oscillators for submillimeter-wave heterodyne spectroscopy
2005 – 2010:
One-octave bandwidth submillimeter-wave heterodyne receivers based on niobium (Nb) distributed SIS mixers & photonic local oscillators with indium phosphorus (InP) uni-travelling photodiodes
2011 – 2024:
Microwave rf SQUID multiplexers for readout of X-ray & optical transition-edge sensors (TES)
